James Callaghan is the Chief Technologist for WestJet Airlines. In this position he is responsible for technology strategy and direction for the corporation. During his more than 5 years at WestJet James has lead various Information Technology teams and has been instrumental in setting new architectural directions to evolve the company’s technology capabilities. Prior to WestJet, James was responsible for development of risk management software as CTO for Securac Technologies. Before and during the dot.com boom he specialized in complex technology integration and physical commodity trading systems for several dot.com ventures, while working as a consultant for Burntsand and other boutique IT companies. He has also held specialist positions in IBM Canada and IBM UK Labs Ltd.

James started his career in research and development for the UK Ministry of Defence, after graduating with a degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the University of Southampton in the UK.
