Video footage: Farnborough Airshow 2014

One of the most important weeks in the aviation calendar got kick started yesterday; The Farnborough International Airshow.  The show has gained the reputation for being the  biggest aerospace industry event in the world.

The show, which initially began as an annual event, has been biennial since 1962. Its importance is centred around the idea that it offers some of the leading companies in aviation an opportunity to show case their latest developments in technology. Engine maker GE, for example, expects to make $30 billion orders for itself and joint venture CFM.

This year, it was sponsored by the AirBus Group, and was opened by Conservative Prime Minister – David Cameron.

Check out the video footage below which shows highlights from the air show’s opening day.  Blue Sky will keep you up to date with the latest footage,  as the show continues to unfold.
