A first look inside the luxury hotel of the skies

If you try and step on to this aircraft with your memory foam neck pillow, and plastic WH Smith bag filled with goodies to keep you occupied,  then expect to be laughed off.  Etihad has taken the idea of luxury air travel to the next level, and revamped two of their planes – Airbus A380 and the Boeing 787 Dreamlinerm, turning them into their first ever four star cabins.

As the video demonstrates, Etihad are transforming the way in which we think about air travel, and crossing lines in passenger experience that many airlines have not even dared to step upon. On the top deck of the new A380 planes, you will find ‘The Residence by Etihad’ a VIP suite, which will set you back £12,500. One way.  This money will however, get you a living room, complete with a 32 inch TV, a gourmet chef, and a butler.

James Hogan, president and chief executive of Etihad Airways, has said, “Etihad Airways’ A380 and B787 will deliver the most advanced airline cabins in the industry, while meeting all weight, range and cost targets at our desired seat count. This will allow us to offer products unparalleled in quality and style, yet at competitive prices across all three cabins.”

What do you make of the progress Etihad has made to air travel? Is this worth the extra money?
