Ryanair has placed an order with Boeing to purchase 175 new Next Generation 737-800 aeroplanes. Yes Ryanair are spending money. When the deal is finalised, it'll be worth around $15.6 billion allowing the low cost giant to grow its fleet to more than 400 planes and serve more than 100 million passengers annually across Europe by 2018.

Mr O'Leary and Boeing Commercial Airplanes president Ray Conner sealed the deal in New York, which is Ryanair's largest order to date and the biggest ever aircraft order in Europe.

Not only are they making some sound investments for Ryanair's fleet, but this deal will sustain skilled manufacturing jobs in Boeing and their suppliers, create more than 3,000 new jobs for pilots, cabin crew and engineers and it represents the biggest ever capital investment by an Irish company in US manufacturing and US jobs.

What do you think? Love or hate them, is it a good investment? Let us know.
