Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport has finally opened its new airport terminal four years late from schedule after delays and cost overruns.
Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh inaugurated the airport on January 10th 2014.
The terminal’s design was inspired by a dancing peacock. This was after airport managing director Sanjay Reddy took architects from Skidmore, Owings and Merrill on a 15-day tour of the country for inspiration. The walls are decorated with thousands of artifacts and artworks.
The new terminal will handle over 40 million passengers a year. Before they all pile in, here’s a look at some of the pictures of the new grounds.
